my 10 weeks of Intermediate class

For the last 10 weeks, I have been teaching a General English Intermediate class at Hawthorn English Language Centre. My co-teacher, Teresa, takes the class on Mondays and Tuesdays. All our students are interesting people with different interests and goals. It’s a great mix of nationalities and personalities.

When I first met our class, many students had arrived from hot countries such as Saudi Arabia, or from their country’s summer. Feeling cold hasn’t been much of a problem in our classroom though, as the heating keeps the room toasty and a little stuffy.

We learnt a lot over the past 10 weeks. I really liked … but … was terrible!

Our class excursion, despite the chilly and wet weather, was fun and relaxing. I’d never been to The Big Bouquet before, a farm for gerbera flowers and alpacas. Natasha, the staff guide, informed us about the alpaca coming from the camel family, and also that gerberas live a better life with just a little water and a drop of bleach!

Sadly this is our last week together as class 8B. After the break week all our students will move on to bigger and better things. Some will continue studying general English but many will go on to academic English – probably they want to sleep in a couple hours more!
